Dr Ed Karim Specialist Orthodontist

Dr Karim is practicing at Straight Smiles in Pakenham and Mulgrave. He has been practicing dentistry for 12 years and in 2011 was appointed as orthodontic registrar at the Adelaide Dental Hospital and began his Doctorate in Clinical Dentistry in Orthodontics at the University of Adelaide, which he completed in 2013. He excelled in all areas of this extensive, full-time training which involved different aspects of contemporary orthodontics including straight wire, tip-edge and self-ligating orthodontics, aesthetic orthodontics (Invisalign^®, lingual and ceramic brackets), orthognathic and early intervention orthodontics. During his final year of training, he was a Clinical Tutor involved in the teaching and mentoring of dental students. Prior to that, he obtained his Bachelor in Health Sciences with Honours from the University of Adelaide, in conjunction with clinical tutoring. He lived in Dubai for four years where he practiced and taught dentistry at the Dental School in Sharjah University. In 2006 he obtained his membership for the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

At Straight Smiles, Dr Karim will design each patient’s smile according to their most aesthetic facial outcome giving each smile its fair share of time and effort. Dr Karim’s exceptional combination of clinical and academic experience allows him to lead every patient through the journey from diagnosis to treatment, finishing with the most beautiful smile. Coming from his strong belief in professional development, Dr Karim is eager to attend local and international conferences to keep up with the latest orthodontic techniques with the view to delivering to his patients the best orthodontic treatment available.
